Monsters are people too, especially if you are playing Daycare Nightmare. In this daycare game, you will have to use your babysitting skills and make sure that each baby monster is happy throughout the day. The only problem is that you will have to take care of many babies at the same time and while some of them are pretty cute and cuddly, others will get into fights if you don't tend to their needs immediately. However, once you get to know these little monsters, you will enjoy babysitting them and you might even earn some extra money for your daycare.
Review
The story starts when the protagonist witnesses a human transforming into a monster right before her very own eyes. This is when we find out that the whole city is filled with monsters that can take the shape of humans. Instead of eating the only human that knows the truth, these monsters decide to let her live, but only if she can take care of those baby monsters and start up a daycare. She accepts the challenge because taking care of little monsters can't be that complicated. Or can it?
Time management games are always fun to play, but somewhat stressful. This daycare game takes it to a whole other level because there are many different types of monsters that will arrive at the daycare. Your primary job is to feed the monsters, put them to bed, change them or place them in the playing area. Besides this, you will have to analyze their special needs and make sure that they don't start fighting. Blobs are easy to take care of, vampires will bite you, ghosts will scare the other babies, dragons will burn the furniture, and Cyclopes will start fights. All of these characters make the game very entertaining and all of these unique personalities will keep you excited for a while.
There are 50 levels of Daycare Nightmare in total, but reaching the final stages is more difficult than it seems. You will get a chance to familiarize yourself with the controls in the first few stages and after that, it is all about saving money. There are plenty of things you can buy if you want to upgrade your daycare, but this is not what the game is all about. You need to be good at multi tasking, but you also have to come up with a strategy for getting past the more difficult levels. The more you advance, the more babies you will have to take care of and the faster you will have to be. Because of this, you shouldn't waste money on unnecessary upgrades, especially considering the fact that once you finish a level, you can't replay it for extra cash.
Keeping an eye on your finances is very important if you want to go through this daycare game without any problems. Luckily, you can visit the upgrade store at any time and you can take a close look at all of the objects available and their purpose. After you do this, you should analyze your future needs and start saving up money for some of the more expensive, but useful items. This way, when you will have to take care of dozens of monsters in the same day, you will be able to do so without restarting the level over and over again. If you reach that point without the proper upgrades, finishing the game in one go will be close to impossible.
Most of the time, the daycare game is fun and very easy to understand. These kids are very predictable, so you simply have to follow a cycle and put the baby in the right area according to his needs. Some problems will appear when the little monsters start fighting, but you will eventually find a way to break them up. If you act rapidly, a halo will appear over the babies' heads and this means that you will receive an extra large tip for making them happy. The halo might disappear if something happens to that baby, so keep an eye on the clock, and make sure that happy babies will continue to be cheerful until the end of the day. During these moments, you will notice that the clock moves much slower than you'd wish, but there is no way around it. If you can't handle the fuss, some monsters will become sad and you might even have to restart the level if you can't find a way to cheer them up.
Despite its stressful nature, this time management daycare game is very enjoyable and entertaining. You will gradually get to know each baby monster and you will often find yourself laughing at what they do. The upgrades you can purchase are also quite original, as well as the graphics. The concept behind the game is simple since you just have to point and click on the baby you want to pick up, but it is nice to see that the developer didn't neglect the graphics and sound for this game.
There are many levels to go through and you will undoubtedly run into many stressful situations along the way. This is part of the fun and one thing is for sure: once you finish all of the 50 levels, you will be the best babysitter for monsters in town. Once you get used to how the game works, you might be tempted to create another profile and start playing all over again. This way, you will be able to buy the right upgrades, you will earn more during the first levels, and the last stages will be easier to go through. Plus, even if you have to play the same rounds all over again, you will still find them entertaining.
Verdict:
Daycare Nightmare is a misleading daycare game if you just look at the title. These little monsters are adorable and if you know what you're doing, they won't cause that many problems along the way. You simply have to get used to each monster's personality and tend to his needs. The story is original, the characters are lovable, and the gameplay is stressful, but in a fun way. Daycare Nightmare guarantees quite a few hours of fun since you have to go through 50 unique levels, but once you finish it you might want to go through the game once more. One thing is certain: the little monsters from this game will not cause nightmares.
